100 Joint Personnel Clean up Mud from Sunter River

Our hope is to reduce, minimize flooding and smoothen the flow of water when it rains

Around 100 joint personnel were alerted to clean up mud the Sunter River, Rawa Badak Utara Urban Village, Koja, North Jakarta, on Sunday (10/3).

It was led by North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim and was witnessed by Water Resources (SDA) Agency Head, Yusmada Faisal, sub-agency heads, urban village and sub-district heads, PKK cadres, Dasawisma cadres, LMK and PPSU members.

According to Hakim, similar action was also carried out in Cilincing and Kelapa Gading sub-districts.

"It is focused on priority locations that cannot be handled by community activities," he expressed.

He asserted, it is a form of collaboration between the government and the community to deal with and anticipate flooding during the rainy season.

"Our hope is to reduce, minimize flooding and smoothen the flow of water when it rains," he stated.

North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Andrian Maulana explained, it has been ongoing since June. It was carried out in every spot, starting from Kresek Sluice Gate to Bermis Sluice Gate along three kilometers.

Today it was focused on Koja area up to 500 meters length using ten heavy equipment with two meters depth.

"By doing so, it will be able to accommodate water in large quantities and minimize flooding in the rainy season," he said.
